Renao releases new single ‘Break It Down’, the first instalment from an intentional new chapter for the Bangalore raised, London based artist and producer. The track is the first offering from Renao’s transformative new partnership with producer Zach Nahome (Slowthai, Bakar, PinkPantheress), and arrives accompanied by an evocative new music video - a glittering, late-night exploration of yearning and togetherness directed by Relta. Ushered in by ‘Break It Down,’ 2023 will see him release a larger body of work which grapples with deeper questions of identity. Renao has announced an upcoming London headline show at Camden Assembly on March 7th, where listeners can hear exclusive unreleased material from the forthcoming project, tickets here.

On the genesis of the track and its video, Renao explains; “This song was the first song I made with Zach Nahome. The whole song came out of the initial line ‘she’s got me in a chokehold.’ It’s an intimate song and I wanted it to feel like me and the person I wrote this about were the only two people left on the road driving home. I tend to visualise a song in my head before I put words down, so visually that’s what it always felt like in my head. The video is a true representation of what I was seeing when writing this. Zach also just gave me a lot of confidence to embrace my falsetto and that’s a big part of what makes this song so special for me.”
