Planet Giza - Quiet On The Set (Official Video)
Planet Giza now reveal the details of their highly anticipated second album release Ready When You Are, due out on 7th April. Alongside the announcement of the album, the trio release the latest single from the project ‘Quiet On The Set’, out now with an accompanying music visual.
‘Quiet On The Set’ is a laid back, funky hip-hop tune, with bouncy rhythms and catchy melodies, courtesy of the group’s Rami B & DoomX. The track opens with a single shaker before a dark, chromatic piano line comes in, accentuated by jazzy synth stabs. Tony Stone’s distinguished vocal comes in with the beat drop, softly comforting his love interest, “when the world don’t make you smile girl you can always cry on my shoulder”.
‘Quiet On The Set’ is a song that dives into the topic of wanting to reassure and comfort a significant other. It breaks down the multiple ways Tony Stone wants to show up and be there for his person. Revealing a very intimate but real side of him. The music video stars the Giza boys who find themselves being judges for an audition. They seem to be in disagreement while trying to find “the one”. Rami Blights up a device that will help them in their decision. This device is meant to calculate the relevance of the movements performed by the participants. One of the dancers catches the eye of Tony, causing the environment to gradually change in his imagination. Huge abstract shapes inspired by retro-futuristic and minimalist themes blend into the decoration of the white studio. Tony's imagination is growing stronger and his vision for the project is taking shape. The machine indicates that the participant's movements are "out of this world", transporting us into infinity (a completely empty and white environment).
The release of ‘Quiet On The Set’ comes hand in hand with the announcement of Planet Giza’s upcoming album Ready When You Are, landing 7th April. The LP will feature a range of hip-hop & R&B stars, including Kaytranada, Mick Jenkins, Kojey Radical, Saba, Venna & Topaz Jones. The project touches on a range of themes, from fame to relationships, once again narrating the experience of Tony Stone, as he traverses through the hectic & hedonistic life of a rising rap star.
With a series of impressive pre-released singles already under their belt, Ready When You Are is a fantastic display of musical development & maturity from the three Montreal natives.
