Kwoli Black - Cotch Freestyle (Single)

Rising UK Hip-Hop artist Kwoli Black releases his first single of the year, ‘Cotch Freestyle’ produced by a long-term collaborator and close friend, JSTRNGS (Ojerime/Sneakbo). ‘‘Cotch Freestyle’ is a reflective track and is as heartfelt as it is braggadocious, with Kwoli flexing throughout and contemplating some of the highlights from the past year. The single captures the best of Kwoli, the rapper, and he taps into his inner playwright resulting in a compelling blend of theatre and technical intricacy. An artist who has become renowned for thought-provoking and vulnerable lyrics, ‘Cotch Freestyle’ flips the script and shows Kwoli in full rap mode, confident and determined to succeed.

Kwoli has had a fascination with words from an early age. Through reading the likes of Rudy Francisco, Reyna Biddy, and Alysia Harris, his poetic ideas transpired into his writing poems. His writing progressed into performing at spoken word shows, but it wasn't until producer and close friend JSTRNGS heard him perform Ab-Soul’s Sapiosexual, that he was encouraged to explore rap music. Kwoli’s musical influences include Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and, closer to home, the likes of; Kojey Radical and Loyle Carner. The individuality of these artists has pushed him musically and given him confidence in his distinct sound and evolution as an artist.
