Nifty Catalyst’s new single ‘This Hear’ is a nice insight of more things to come, with its soulful hook from Josh Barry and Nifty’s eye-opening verses. The sprawling messy flow of the first verse was really interesting, as it plays around with the bar line in an almost MF DOOM essence. The song is accompanied by the luscious vocals of Josh Barry who has worked with the likes of Rudimental, Nile Rodgers, and Gorgon City. Josh himself has his own solo work which we urge you to listen to.

I found this song to be a lovely fusion of many sub genres of rap, drawing elements from lofi, soul hop, and boom bap. The song leaves you thinking and simultaneously wanting more. We really enjoyed this song and were drawn in instantly by the hook and the accompanying harmonies.

Nifty tells us there is a catalogue of new singles to come so we look forward to what the future has to hold with his new releases. We can only hope they pack as much of a punch as this first single.
