East London artist, author, broadcaster and sports pundit Guvna B reveals a new single from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, The Village Is On Fire out May 26th titled “Amplify” featuring Ghanaian rising star DarkoVibes.

Kicking off the summer season, the sounds of Guvna B’s home and heritage are combined into an afrobeats infused offering. He enlists singer-songwriter DarkoVibes to provide an infectious chorus and producers TSB, AOD and Venna to harmoniously combine West African rhythms and percussion with powerful UK rap. An amalgamation of the genres and cultures that make Guvna B, “Amplify” is the soundtrack for these warmer months to come.

Amongst the feel-good vibe of Amplify, Guvna B’s raw lyricism shines bright. Explaining the meaning of the song, he says “Amplify is a song about our environment. I grew up on an estate with a ‘crabs in a bucket’ mentality where we'd pull each other down because of limited opportunities which breed jealousy and hate. Too much focus is placed on the crabs though, and not enough on the bucket...our environment. If the environment we grow up in enables us to thrive, we tend to make better decisions. The soundscape is afro-inspired so we shot the video in Ghana.”

The vibrant music video directed by Kwame Baodi sees Guvna B and DarkoVibes link up in Accra, capturing the good energy and thriving culture of the picturesque city that connects both artists.

“Amplify” follows the harrowing “Bridgeland Road” featuring Michaela Coel and hopeful “Traffic” - all tracks can be heard on his new album The Village Is On Fire, a 12-track commentary on London in all its agony and glory. In an often chaotic and transient world, where society is being ravaged by the cost of living crisis, Guvna B’s music enjoys a rare status: that of the anchor, the object that despite the turmoil around it will not shift. That status can only come after years of experience, dedication and sacrifice, but now Guvna B is finally here in his most accomplished form. This refinement and resilience is at the core of his very finest work to date: and, considering all of the compelling art that he has released prior to this album, that is cause for the greatest excitement.
