Lusaint - Fool For You (Single)
Manchester-based singer-songwriter Lusaint returns with sparkling new single ‘Fool For You’, out today on new indie imprint Heavenly Fire.
The track follows Lusaint’s powerful lead single ‘Dark Horse’, which received support from BBC Introducing Manchester and Victoria Jane on BBC Radio 1 amongst other tastemakers. ‘Fool For You’ is another glimpse of the Mancunian songstress’ debut EP self sabotage, set for release later this year. The track spotlights Lusaint’s distinctive voice, which has captured hearts since her 2019 breakthrough with its melodic blend of jazz and blues influences.
Opening with jazzy chords underscoring Lusaint’s show-stopping vocals, ‘Fool For You’ quickly eases into an upbeat strut with bright pianos and a perky brass section. The crisp arrangement is an uplifting vehicle for Lusaint’s defiant lyrics about trying to break out of a relationship turned sour.
Commenting on the meaning behind her lyrics, Lusaint says, “Fool For You is about going back to someone you know isn’t good for you but still remains a constant. You become accustomed to their toxicity and assume it as the norm.”
‘Fool For You’ is another leap forward for Lusaint since her unique rise to stardom in 2019, when her cover of ‘More Than Friends’ (En Vogue ‘Don’t Let Go’) received a TV sync and was subsequently crowned the most Shazam’d song in one day in the UK with over 45,000 Shazams.
