Zikai - Super 8 (Single)

Zikai, the acclaimed Swedish singer and songwriter, returns with her new single ‘Super 8’. Fusing R&B, soul and pop, the song is about reclaiming power and setting boundaries in relationships.

Since her Swedish Grammy win for Soul/R&B in 2021, Zikai has spent all of her time in the studio honing her sound. Maintaining strong roots in R&B while drawing inspiration from other styles of music, she and her co-writers have created a world full of diary-like stories articulated through lyrics that cover themes of confidence, sensuality and vulnerability.

New single ‘Super 8’ is inspired by Zikai's desire for a deep and genuine connection with a person she believed worthy of her love, while over the years she has learned to set boundaries in toxic relationships. In this way, she takes back the power. The blissful track was co-written together with Trey Campbell (John Legend, H.E.R, Guy Sebastian, Giveon), Agrin Rahmani (Veronica Maggio, Augustine, LEON) and Nirob Islam (Kygo, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne). Explaining the meaning behind the single’s name, Zikai explains:  “I named it Super 8 because during the session I imagined the song in a movie scene - a hot summer day, palm trees, me driving around in the same yellow Cadillac that Al Pacino drives in Scarface. And all of this would be filmed in super 8mm. It suited the sound image.”

This is the first single from Zikai's upcoming EP, and with this strong start, it will no doubt be a journey to look forward to.
