Jwhale & JimmyG ft: Oriyo - 2 Pence (Single)

The timing of the release of this track couldn’t be better. It’s a light, dreamy, garagey summer number in its production although its content is much more reflective. The press release describes it as being influenced by The Streets and that hits the nail on the head both in the production and the delivery.

The storyline of the track is two friends having a conversation about how it seems like you can’t do right for doing wrong, how sometimes you feel like you’re running but still going backwards, the pressures of life and how while you’re stuck not knowing what to do life is passing you by. If you can’t relate, count yourself lucky, but with the state of Britain today I think it's very relatable. It’s not delivered in a depressing way though, the rhythm is pretty playful and fun to listen to so don’t worry it’s not going to bum you out.

I think the world needs more guys being vocal about their struggles and normalising opening up to their friends so tunes like this are important. If you're interested in a garage rebirth then these guys are the ones to watch.

JWhale & JimmyG will be supporting London artist Bushrod at his sold out show at Folklore in Hoxton on 3rd June and performing at Mezma Festival in Leamington Spa on 16th September.
