KAO - FUCAMiDOiN (Album)

Trying to survive in a country that's crumbling has led most of us to ask, 'Fucamidoin?' So this album is definitely timely. It opens with a Wu-esque intro except I'm pretty sure he's going to get sued for it. Have a listen, you'll see what I mean.

The overall feel of the album is UK meets US. The title track could be a Mouse Outfit tune (as could 'Wikkid') but the one straight after, 'Show Me' is full US style sampling and braggadocio. It's produced with Snips who is a British artist based in the US and you can really feel that East Coast influence.

'Doom Patrol', a collaboration with Reg, and 'Deebo' follow with a darker, slightly dystopian vibe. Imagine half speed Foreign Beggars and you're getting the idea.

'Come Home With Me' is the most English seduction song ever made. 'Am I coming home with you when the night is done? Cos if I'm not I think I gotta go, before this starts getting awkward'. Smooth. Real smooth. Cracks me up every time.

'Weatherman' is bouncy like an old style Freestylers track. It works well to have a little uptempo number in there.

The end of the album sees some notable collaborations with scene veteran Genesis Elijah and some lesser known artists Greg Blackman, Cactus Corino and Motman.

The quality of production on this album is really high and while this is definitely a British hip hop album I'm feeling the incorporation of the US style, he has made it work well.
