Juno Rucker - Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid (Album) + 10 Questions

Las Vegas-based artist Juno Rucker is excited to announce his new album “Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid on EveryDejaVu Records.

The multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer has garnered critical praise from Lyrical Lemonade, Rated RnB, Fashionably Early, and more! Juno Rucker’s highly-anticipated debut “Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid” is available now on all streaming platforms.

Born in Houston, Juno Rucker made the move to Las Vegas when he was around age 7 and moved around there, Houston, and Vegas in the years to follow. Family played an integral part in Juno Rucker’s musical journey: His mother would show him all the varied music she loved and him and his brothers would constantly show each other and trade favourite artists. Inspired by artists such as Lauryn Hill, Dominic Fike, Frank Ocean, and Sade, Juno’s true motivation to pursue his dreams of becoming an artist was losing his grandma to a terminal illness. Dedicated to his late grandmother Ruthy, Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid comes after years of crafting and curating what Rucker deems best shows off his multifaceted skills as a singer, song writer, and producer.

The album titleSome Things Are Better Left Unsaid is inspired by the idea that growing up means that one has to care more, but less. Rucker explains, “You could pour your heart out and none of it would matter to anyone. Life is about growth and learning and being the best person you can be. In this case I understood that there was nothing I could change at times to make anyone like or perceive me different. Hence, “Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid”.”

Juno Rucker produced and wrote everything on the album himself and recorded it with fellow artist and longtime friend Wes on Acid. The process of making the new record did not come without hurdles. In addition to recording between six different households, Rucker suffered gastrointestinal bleeding for five months while working a full time job. “Music was the only thing saving me at the time. It still is,” he says. The songs are a culmination of Rucker’s thoughts throughout these experiences. He states, “I’ve never been too good with my words unless it was a part of a song. I didn’t think anyone deserved anything from me until now. Always moving around and never being too comfortable is what really inspired most of this project. ”With the Some Things Better Left Unsaid soon to be out June 16th, Rucker hopes that when people listen to this record, that they reflect back on themselves, on both the good and the bad. He concludes, “We all have to find our place in life and this is it... For me at least. A lot of people say my music is authentically me for some reason but I’ll let the majority decide. Who knows, maybe this work will go somewhere most don’t. If not, I did it for me.

Juno Rucker sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

My mom and my grandpa used to play music loud in the house and I was in and out of church. There was usually a keyboard or guitar in the house so I taught myself naturally. I just always loved the sound of the steel strings bouncing around the room. After that I just couldn’t let it go. Now I’m on the path of the artist.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I'm heavily influenced by a few artists like Frank Ocean, Dominic Fike, Lauryn Hill, Bakar, Sade, and bands like The Kooks and The Strokes. I would love to work with any of these artists!

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid just dropped on 6/16! I have many other singles and features coming as well. Working on another project called “WHEN I WAKE UP, I WAKE UP”. It’s still fresh but I gotta keep moving. Don’t know when that’ll be out yet but there will be plenty of new music from me coming!

4. How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as very much and blended collective of hip hop, alternative, folk, RnB, rock, indie, and pop. Jack of all trades if you will.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I would say my proudest moment is releasing my first project! I produced and wrote everything by myself. The homie Asaiah Ziv helped with drums and such on track 4, and Wes On Acid mixed and mastered the whole thing. The album release party was filled with so many loving friends and people that support me. I continue getting articles as well and it’s just a surreal experience for me because I’ve never had feelings like this before. I’m very thankful to have people that love me.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

The advice I could give to someone playing music as a game is… just literally be yourself, if you go on a track trying to be someone else that’ll radiate through your music. Make the music YOU WANT TO MAKE. Not what everyone else wants. Use this as therapy for your issues if you can. Also try to be as self sufficient as possible. Don’t be afraid to sell yourself and your brand, because if you don’t… someone else will.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

You should check out MiMi, Asaiah Ziv, Wes On Acid, Quinn Ayers, Gio Luna, and Tatum The Dreamer!

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I’ve been loving Bakar’s “Nobody’s home” , any of Still Woozy’s projects, and Dominic Fike’s “don’t forget about me demos”.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

When I’m not making music I go shoot pool with my friends, skateboard, play fighting games, read manga/watch anime, and go on adventures with my dog halo.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Personally speaking, 3 things I cant go without would be… Water, cough drops, and something to cover my head like a ski mask, knit cap, or a hat, sometimes even a blanket. Lately my pup has been a new addition. He lets me know whether the song is trash or not hahaha.
