Secret Night Gang - Belongs on a Place Called Earth (Album)

Secret Night Gang return with a second album after their consistent success within the world of Jazz. The 10 track album which centres around When Will the Sun Rise Again incorporates elements of love, optimism, kindness and drive throughout, illustrating the true beauty of Jazz, Street Soul and Funk as powerhouses of genres. With several appearances to come at renowned jazz festivals such as Cross the Tracks, Love Supreme, We Out Here and many more, Secret Night Gang highlight through this album release and their current achievements that they are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Starting the album with the soulful and politically infused Respect Me, the authentic and meaningful sounds of Jazz are instantly revealed and used as a rather successful setting stone for the rest of the album. Never Ever, the fourth song on the album, similarly reminds us listeners of the love and passion that Jazz is loved and known for, with sentimental, moralistic and romantic tones completely dominating the song alongside its groovy riffs and runs. The focal song, When Will the Sun Rise Again follows soon after, with the surreal pianos, vocals, bass and all things jazz depicting themes of hope and faith for the future selves of Secret Night Gang.

With all the songs mentioned and without a doubt those in between, Secret Night Gang reassure us listeners that “life is just an illusion” and we should be kind to one another whether we are going through it or not. This album without a doubt will be a success, and if you are a firm believer of hope, love and kindness this won’t be one to miss.
