THEO ft: Sophia Thakur - There’s Always Something (Single)

THEO is back with her new single ‘There’s Always Something’ featuring renowned poet and spoken word artist Sophia Thakur, out on June 22nd.

‘There’s Always Something’ is a soulful string-laden R&B track that captures the essence of emotional exhaustion in relationships. Written during the depths of lockdown, the R&B track’s driving beat and repetition of lyrics create a hypnotic yet restless quality, emphasising “the feeling of being trapped in a cycle of disappointment in a relationship where the same issues re-occur constantly”, in THEO’s words. “‘There’s Always Something’ conveys the frustration of trying so hard to make a relationship work, always giving but never receiving ”,

THEO says about the track. “I feel like there is still a glimmer of hope that shines through. The lyrics suggest that although the faith in the relationship may be dwindling, it hasn't been completely lost.” From her lengthy childhood Christmas shows involving every family member, to belting out a cheeky tune at Canavan’s karaoke, THEO always found solace expressing herself through music.

Born to Irish parents in the UK, THEO claims her big dreams started early when her parents played The Commitments and Van Morrison at home, big Irish names that kickstarted her love for soul music. However, it wasn’t until she moved to London, aged 17, to pursue it as a career that she developed her unique sound, image and brand; centred around her bright red hair and colourful clothes; her vivacious personality; her confused Irish-Catholic upbringing in the UK and the guilt and anxiety that follows closely behind.

Following a string of successful releases, THEO was discovered by Grammy-winning artist Naughty Boy and the pair are now close collaborators. Together, they have written 20+ songs together and she now also writes for other artists he is developing.
