Matteo Getz - 10 Questions

Matteo Getz is a producer who has worked with the legendary likes of Masta Ace, Sadat X, Termanology and Heltah Skeltah from his own recording studio, The Matt Cave in Framingham, MA. His latest work is full producing Thirstin Howl The 3rd's new LP Thoughts Skillustrated and shows off the fabled Brooklyn MCs rhyme skills over Getzs hard hitting beats. We caught up with Matteo Getz to hear all about his music and love of hip hop as he answers our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Well, for me it all started in the mid 80's, 85' 86', thats when I became in love with rap, hip hop and the whole culture. I loved everything about it from the dressing fly aspect and all the elements from graffiti ,MC’ing, DJ’ing, and breakdancing. I tried every aspect the only 3 that I was good at was DJ’ing, producing and engineering.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

To keep it a buck my early on influences were this group from around my town Framingham Mass called Havok House which I have had the privilege of working with over the course of my 25 plus years and still going independent career, collectively as a group and individually as solo artists. also they showed me that it was possible especially a close friend I grew up with was one of the first DJs and producers in my town from that I said to myself it is possible. and in the future I would love to work with all the greats that have  paved the way for me to add to the culture like,LL Cool J, Jay Z, Eminem, Black Thought, Busta Rhymes,  just to name a few.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I have a bunch of individual fully produced albums by me i’m doing with artist like Ajax Lo we are putting out the Indica Jaxn Second Harvest second instalment which will be dropping at the and of June, so look out for that. Camarah Walleed, Supernatural, Dio Gin, Comet of Skrewball and 4 more producer albums with a collective list of artist from big names and artist that are unsigned hype spazzing over my hard hitting production.

4. How would you describe your sound?

My sound is more of a 90's sound boom bap hard hitting drums with different  type of sounds with played instruments and samples cut up kind of a all around universal sound.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

My proudest moment is probably what i’m doing now with all my current projects. Each project gets better and better from my first producer album The Getz Collection to even this album Thoughts Skillustrated.
