Maya Law - Losing It All (Single)

Rising talent Maya Law has shared her latest single ‘Losing It All’ via independent label TLD Records.
The latest in a string of releases coming from the singer songwriter in 2023 including ‘Mother Tongue’ and ‘Bad Guy’, new offering ‘Losing It All’ finds Maya Law reflecting on a period of intense creative frustration and writer’s block. A raw, confessional inspired by the moments she’s been tempted to give up in the music industry, ‘Losing It All’ highlights feelings of low self esteem and resentment. Produced by frequent collaborator Freya Roy (the two artists joined forces for Freya Roy’s 2022 single ‘Fantasies Reimagined’ with Gabriel Gifford), the release has a haunting, jazz-infused soundscape that carries Maya Law’s pent-up emotions and is driven by her mesmerising vocal.
Speaking of the inspiration for ‘Losing It All’ Maya Law explains: “‘Losing It All’ is my creative breakdown anthem. I was having an intense writing block and general feelings of giving up in the music industry. It touches on my heritage in a similar way to Mother Tongue, but focuses on the industry and the boxes they have shoved me into in the past. I was battling with feelings of not being good enough or never being successful in my career. Now looking back, I know that when it makes me feel good, it’s good enough - and fuck the rest.”
Now based in London and signed to TLD Records, Maya Law has weathered the storm and continues to stand out as a fiercely talented singer and songwriter. Last year she supported Pip Millett and Children of Zeus at their respective gigs in Maya’s hometown of Norwich, and linked up with producer Mom Tudie on luscious cut, ‘Gold’. Receiving plaudits from the likes of CLASH, New Wave Magazine, Rebecca Judd, and Jamz Supernova, she’s gone from strength to strength this year and kick started this year’s slew of releases with ‘Mother Tongue’ back in February, a brooding and deeply personal number inspired by her mixed heritage. Not afraid to express her deepest emotions through her music, Maya’s autobiographical songwriting offers a refreshingly candid insight into her personal experiences with mental health and being a queer woman of colour. This uncompromising musical vision has led to widespread support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Introducing, as well as sharing stages with highly regarded artists including Connie Constance, Loyle Carner, Andreya Triana and Akala in recent years.
