H3rizon sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Tiara: When I was only 2 years old, my mother would have the karaoke machine on every single day while my dad was at work. I didn't know how to read, I had only just learned how to talk but I would sing Celine Dion ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at the top of my lungs. From that moment on, my family and I knew that music is what I was destined to do with my life. As I got older I never had access to singing lessons or anything to help expand my knowledge because of the town I grew up in, so I became completely self taught with youtube and google….. All worked out in the end though!

Gabby: As a kid I was extremely shy, I hardly talked or expressed how I was at the time, but being in a Filipino household I discovered the karaoke machine and it instantly became my creative outlet. My parents then enrolled me in singing lessons when I was 7 and piano lessons when I was 9 so that it could help me break out of my comfort zone, and thankfully it did. Since then music has always been a major part of my life and shaped who I am today <3

Bernie: Other than pushing me to the karaoke machine, my parents encouraged me to pursue music at a young age by putting me in various music lessons. I was around 7 when I started lessons playing a ridiculous (but honestly fun) range of instruments including piano, guitar, flute, trumpet, alto horn, French horn and finally singing! But what really sparked my love for music, and especially singing in groups, was the whole craze for vocal groups in my high school. I was (and still am) a huge a capella and choir nerd and jumped at every opportunity to perform in groups during that time. Going into university, I continued my participation in choirs, but I also found that I love music and vocal production which always comes in handy with the amount of music and content creation the girls and I get up to. It’s crazy how I’m able to pursue a career that involves so many things I’ve learnt and love about music. Being able to work and collaborate with two other amazing women is the cherry on top!

2. Tell us about Coordinate. Inspiration, Collaborators, where is this song on your journey?

Coordinate to us is a song that represents empowerment, feeling unstoppable as a woman, friendship and having the time of your life. We worked on this song with our two good friends Cyrus Villanueva and Jasmine Khan back in Sydney and we knew from the second we finished the demo, this song needed to be put out as the next big girl-boss anthem.

3. Who are some artists that influence you and this song and that you want to work with in the future?

Being an RnB girl group, of course we’re inspired by the girl groups that preceded us and paved the way for girl groups today. Destiny’s Child, TLC, SWV, Pussycat Dolls, Little Mix, Chloe x Halle, the list goes on forever. We are constantly inspired by them and how they carried themselves as a unit - empowering each other, being bad-ass and sexy, and having fun all at the same time, so they became a massive inspiration for “Coordinate”.

And if we could have a chance to collaborate with any artists of today, we’d LOVE to write with Victoria Monet, get a rap feature with Ty Dolla $ign and have a killer RnB track with Giveon.

4. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them? Tell us a little bit about your USA Endeavours.

Our trip to Atlanta recently has definitely been the most special moment to us so far in our careers. We were there for about 2 and a half weeks working with Tricky Stewart and other top music writers working on our album, creating absolute bangers that we can’t wait for the world to hear. Being in a new space, working with new people and being able to take a glimpse into what our lives will be like was such a surreal experience that we fell in love with. We cannot wait to go back and continue hustling and making the best music we could possibly create.

We recently got to meet the QUEEN herself SYLVIA RHONE and we are planning on doing some massive things together! But what an inspiration to us strong women she is.

SO… ALBUM Coming, plus singles galore, plus MUSIC VIDEOS  - and some surprises also - including incredible collaborators, and features! ;)

5. How would you describe your sound in general?

We love to work a lot within the Pop/RnB realm, but we love how broad the genre is because there’s so many ways for us to fuse it with other styles. Each of us brings a different element to our group - Gabby’s classical music background, Tiara’s RnB influences and Bernie’s vocal production expertise. And not to mention, we love harmonies.

6. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

This year in general, we’ve been extremely lucky to be able to start travelling more and share our music to new crowds of people. In January we spent a few days in Brisbane for a festival with Kehlani as the headliner, then came February we spent a whole month in Philippines doing a promo-tour and connecting with our Filipino roots, and then in April we spent 2 and half weeks in Atlanta, Georgia working on our album with Tricky Stewart and some of the top music writers in the industry. For us, ever since we were kids when we met, we always knew that someday we would be on the big stage sharing our music with the world - so to see it all slowly unfold right in front of our eyes is something we will cherish forever and hold on to.

7. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. No matter where you are in the world, no matter how long it takes, if music is your passion, be willing to stop at nothing until you get to where you wanna be.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Tiara: Recently I've been loving all the new music Victoria Monet has been putting out, a lot of 90’s-2000’s r&b, and honestly Taylor swift because of a new tv show i'm watching at the moment…..

Gabby: Mahalia’s new album “IRL” has me hooked. I love her music, her style of writing, and funnily enough she’s reposted our cover arrangements that we’ve done of her songs so major fangirl rn.

Bernie: Sade has been on repeat lately! Her ethereal voice and evocative lyrics just takes me to another world.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

Tiara: In any spare time I get, I love taking the time to work on myself mentally or physically whether it may be reading a book, doing pilates sessions with the girls, a vitamin drip to get our immunity boost or simply just gathering around a good table of food with good conversation.

Gabby: I love going outside when the weather’s nice - to go for a walk my dog especially, or taking a book to read, soaking in the sun and getting a good dose of vitamin D :)

Bernie: Lately, I’ve been spending time with friends as much as possible! We’ve been hustling a lot more, and we have big plans. We just never know when it might be the last time in a long time to hang out with your loved ones in person.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Tiara: 1. Definitely some sort of lemon and ginger tea! Throat coat especially!

Gabby: 2. Some blankets… sometimes it gets cold in the studio but really it just makes the studio more comfy and home-y.

Bernie: Good vibes! I feel that when there’s good energy and a positive, open-minded attitude all around, everyone just lets the creativity flow so much easier and we get the work done with a lot more focus and efficiency!
