Biyi - Jetflight (Single)

Biyi, the North London music and sports polymath releases his new single ‘Jetflight’.

Sonically traversing alternative UK Hip-Hop sounds with tasteful jazz-rap undertones akin to the work of Saba and Tom Misch‘Jetflight’ is a soul-searching meditation on regret, learned lessons and muted optimism. Over woozy and enigmatic production courtesy of Ahmed ShareefyBiyi adopts a stream of consciousness-style flow and delivery, to make a matter of fact yet vulnerable plea to reconcile with an old flame.

Speaking further on the song’s genesis, Biyi said: “JETFLIGHT was inspired by the feeling when you lock eyes with someone from your past and it seems like time froze. You still feel youthful like when you first met them because the love is still there. You realise they’ve low-key been on your mind the whole time apart, so if they’re down to make it work, you’re ready to go wherever just to prove it. To me is hopeful - like I am”.

‘Jetflight’ is Biyi’s first slice of completely original material since the release of his sophomore EP ‘The Fix’. Released in November 2021‘The Fix’ was an impressive and captivating 6-track musical excursion through alternative rap, future bounce, grime, UKG and house music. Disparate soundscapes which were neatly unified by Biyi’s singular approach to the mic.

The project was home to standout tracks ‘Blame Game’, ‘Lately’ and ‘Choppa Sound’. All of which would garner critical adoration from the likes of NOTIONThe IndependentWordplay MagazineStereofoxCLASHGRM DailyGUAP and London In Stereo in addition to concurrent radio support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio London.

Outside of music, Biyi is also a professional rugby player. He currently plays for Ealing Trailfinders. Before that he was at Racing 92, a French rugby union club based in suburban Paris, and he’s previously had stints playing for Bedford Blues, Saracens and Wasps in the English premiership.
