NOISY ft: Frozemode - THE MOTIVE (Official Video) + 10 Questions

Alternative trio NOISY have joined forces with London rap powerhouse Frozemode on brand new single ‘THE MOTIVE’.

An explosive melting pot of gritty breakbeats, woozy trance synths and frenzied attack flow, ‘THE MOTIVE’ blends NOISY’s signature party sound with Frozemode’s raw versatility to bring something special for this summer.

The collaboration was born totally organically, with NOISY using a method that’s become commonplace and synonymous with the band - messaging artists they like on social media purely to show love. Destined to come together, and with a mutual desire to create something special, the Instagram conversation soon graduated to the studio where the magic really happened, and the result was THE MOTIVE.

On the new track, NOISY commented: “We had this beat knocking around for a while with the “capture the motive” hook and always knew it had to have its moment at some point. As soon as the Frozemode boys heard it they were buzzing and started writing their verses. The energy in the room for that session was crazy, all six of us were just bouncing off the walls with excitement listening to what we were creating.”

“We were both playing (The Great Escape) so we said we’ve gotta perform it together. They came on during our set and we went on during theirs and playing it live got us gassed for releasing it.”

Frozemode also commented on ‘THE MOTIVE’: “This track “captures” the essence of turning up to a motive and feeling like no one can touch you. It’s a sick cypher-like track where we all spit some cool bars on the verses and go crazy on the hook. We made this track the first time we linked up with the NOISY boys and something just clicked straight away. We went through a couple of ideas and this one grabbed our attention as soon as we heard it.”

NOISY have announced their collaboration-packed mixtape ‘FAST FWD: to friday [Vol 1]’, featuring Tinchy Stryder, Charlotte Plank, Master Peace, Frozemode + more, out September 8th via Concord Records.

NOISY + Frozemode sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

NOISY: “We’ve all been huge music lovers from a young age. Used to knock about in bands and put on regular nights at local youth centres, which gave us a taste of what could be, so just got hooked from the get go. The buzz you get from playing a live show is unmatched. We were always fascinated with big bands and their lifestyles/ journeys to success. We just wanted to be one of those bands, so have never had a plan B, the drive and passion has always been there.”

Frozemode: “We’ve all loved and relied on music from as far back as we can remember. When we first started experimenting with making music it came from a place of emulating the music we loved. Since then we’ve been focused on developing our own style and sound. Music provides a way of expressing yourself and telling your own story and this was definitely important in our journey. We’ve all been making music for years now. Cho-Hollo’s older brother is a rapper and got him into the game quite early. Cho-Hollo and I.V.Gatlin used to freestyle over YouTube beats together during college. They started releasing music under the Frozemode name on Soundcloud whilst I (Lisong) was doing the same as a solo artist. In 2020 it seemed like our sounds were coming together and complimenting each other. Straight after a drunk phone call at 2am we decided starting FROZEMODE as a trio made perfect sense. Soon after we started going to the studio and cooking up bangers.”

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

NOISY: “The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Kasabian are the main ones for us. They are bands we have grown up listening to and pulling inspiration from. We would love to get in the studio with any of these artists, think we’d create something crazy.”

3. How would you describe your sound?

Frozemode: “We like to cross a lot of genres but predominantly alternative hip-hop mixed with punk influences. Impulsive, high energy, raw and expressive. We talk about our experiences, both the highs and lows and this is translated in our sound. We try not to go into the studio expecting to make something specific, we let how we are feeling on the day guide us and see what comes out.”

4. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

NOISY: “We are working towards a big body of work which we are SO excited about. We’ve been working with some dope artists over the past few months so you can expect some energetic collaborations.”

5. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Frozemode: “Some advice we would give is to not be afraid of releasing music and just laying down your ideas. If you love it, someone else will probably love it too. Just be yourself and release what you have, don’t be too obsessed with perfection, you can always clean up in the future and delete old tracks that you fall out of love with. We’re still quite new to the game so we’re definitely still figuring it out too, and that’s okay!”

6. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

NOISY: “Headlining a sold out XOYO, probably our biggest and rowdiest show to date. The place went offfff from the first note. People were fucking having it.”

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Frozemode: Jim Legaxy, Skaiwater, South Arcade, Joey Valence and Brae, Destroy Lonely, Tiggs da Author”

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Frozemode: “Skaiwater - Rave (nc)

Kenny Mason - 6

Jim Legacy - Homeless N**** Pop Music

Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA - Scaring The Hoes

J Hus - Beautiful and Brutal Yard

Destroy Lonely - If Looks Could Kill”

NOISY: “The Fat Of The Land will never leave our libraries. That album lives in our head rent free. Also Good Lies by Overmono, that record is such a vibe… can’t wait to go and see that live.”

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

NOISY: All we do is make music and go down the pub. So find us down the local boozer.”

 10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Frozemode: “Phone, Magnum (the tonic wine not the ice cream or the condom), and a room full of people we vibe with.”
