Rio Rainz ft: Finn Foxell - sunshine (Single)
East meets West on the new collaboration between rising musician Rio Rainz and Shepherds Bush cult hero Finn Foxell. ‘sunshine’ is a feel-good anthem from two generational talents about bringing light into someone's life when they need it the most. Dom Valentino - who has previously produced for both artists as well as Olivia Dean, Ragz Original and Deema - combines classic Drum & Bass and Jungle elements to create the perfect high-octane roller that allows their distinct flows to shine. Rio has become an unstoppable force in the burgeoning Alternative-DIY scene with a stream of singles this year, including Jazzy-Rap single ‘favourite girl’, his most popular release to date, and most recently ‘nirvana’. Finn Foxell dropped his Punk meets Rap single TYSON this past month, ahead of his debut set at this year's Glastonbury, a critically acclaimed set dubbed a highlight by The Guardian. Rio and Finn embody everything a modern man and artist should, wearing their hearts on their sleeves and speaking up for the communities they represent, paving the way for a better future.
Hailing from East London, Rio was born to Irish and Jamaican parents who raised him on an eclectic mix of Reggae, Rap, Rock, Pop and more. When his parents separated, Rio began splitting his time between London and the countryside, two contrasting worlds he first disliked but later described the latter as providing a much-needed space from all the chaos. Rio started to hone his craft as young as six, playing keys for the church choir and attending performing arts school, where his love for all things creative flourished. From a young age, Rio has found comfort in his introspective lyrics. He has openly shared his highs and adolescent battles, hoping his vulnerability might support others.
Rio was motivated to break the stereotypes pushed on him with his sound reflecting a genre-fluid mix of all his inspirations under one multi-layered roof.
Rio burst onto the scene at fifteen with his powerful Black Box freestyle, which caught fire online and ignited his fuse, confirming his rapping abilities to the masses. The buzz continued to grow until he dropped his breakout single ‘heartless’ showing a different side but later made his most significant mark with his debut EP, ‘Withdrawal Symptoms’ released last year. Rio’s been on a role this year receiving co-signs from The Face, Hypebeast, and Complex, to name a few and featuring on The UK Viral Chart on Spotify, and he was made the cover of Our Generation. Two months since favourite girl dropped and over 888K streams later, Rio has a number of pop performances coming up and a project on its way.
