Babé Sila - Dom dom dom (Single)

Dom dom dom” is the new single from London/New York-based Hungarian songwriter, vocalist, and DJ Babé Sila. The track is taken from her upcoming EP “I told the sun about you” which explores the powerful themes, feelings, and phases of a summer romance. Hailed in her hometown of Budapest as the “Queen of R&B”, “Dom dom dom” follows Babé’s previous LPs ‘9’ and ‘August’ (Mamazone Records) and “Plum” EP (Wasted Talent Entertainment). Her previous releases have seen support from the likes of Clash Magazine, PAPER, Highsnobiety, Global Soul and EARMILK, alongside nominations for Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year and the Fonogram Hungarian Music Awards.

As the seduction of rising temperatures stands overrides rationality and normality, “Dom dom dom” tells the story of a partner attempting to stand in the way of the sun’s warmth and radiance; “I see it as a partner competing with my inner sun”. As Babé asks “why did you shine on me? you knew you could never be my sun”, the track represents the toll the wrong person can take on a one’s relationship with freedom and with their own shine. Dynamic harmonies layered over funk-laden bass and horns courtesy of Cole Ostrin, Tamás Tóth, Barnabas Gáll, Sara Erdei and Máté Iványi continue to fuel Babé’s independence on the track, ensuring her light never has an opportunity to dim.

Babé Sila was inspired by a young age growing up in a multicultural environment and amongst the creative melting pot of Hungary’s capital city. Drawing influence and inspiration from icons of Soul, Jazz and R&B including Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Sadé and Lauryn Hill, she set out to craft her own songwriting styles, artistic sound, and confidence in her creative vision. As she got older, she began to understand storytelling as a way of processing emotions and preserving memories and set about working this into her musical output. Her developed lyrical prowess favours honesty and fragility, playing with the duality of being soft and expressive at the same time.
