“Pass You By”, the second single from Mad Yella’s debut self-titled 9-track album. After the success of this young 6-piece outfit’s first album single “With Your Love” back in 2021, the band’s broad fusion of mellow RnB and Neo-Soul flavours has gone from strength to strength. Long time fans have noted a growing maturity in the sound of each subsequent release, offering old fans and fresh ears a mix of resounding nostalgia, and daring modernity.

Currently sitting nicely on Jazz FM's B - List, The track has a structure works as a journey, taking the listener on a story of love, loss and heartbreak. The ethereal intro breaks away allowing Kojo’s bluesy tones to take front and centre over an infectious and spacious groove. The chorus completely changes course, all at once souring synths and powerful beats create the bed for this song's catchy style. The song also features a guitar solo from band founder Will Evans that builds brilliantly to its bold climax, only to breakaway once more to a lazy dilla-esque outro, reminiscent of acts such as Hiatus Kaiyote and Robert Glasper.

Almost guaranteed with every fresh release from Mad Yella, the track showcases the use of analogue mastering and production techniques, receiving the special touch from by jazz piano phenom and producer Oli Howe and inimitable producer, musician and DJ, J-Felix.
