Over laid-back and sprightly production courtesy of Boris Labant, ‘Really Tho’ effortlessly succeeds in creating a vibe to soundtrack the looming end of summer. Adding to the air of carefree bliss that the track’s mood emits is prominent use of acoustic guitar licks and clever use of whistling in the background.

Juxtaposing the track’s laissez faire and breezy atmosphere is Biyi’s signature conversational style of rapping. Inspired by a relationship in uncertain limbo, ‘Really Tho’ chronicles and details the period in which mixed signals are running rampant with no clear direction.

Speaking on the song’s inspiration, Biyi said: “I wrote ‘REALLY THO’ about the situations we get into when there’s grey areas and games being played in romance - whether it’s lack of trust, mismatched emotions or just knowing it’s not good for you”.

‘Really Tho’ arrives 2 months after the release of Biyi’s previous single Jetflight. The soul-searching and meditative jazz-rap number would upon its official arrival earn plaudits and praise from reputable titles outlets like COLORS, Official Charts, Wordplay Magazine, Ones To Watch and CLASH where it was featured as their ‘Track Of The Day’. The track was also included in Spotify’sthe night bus edit’ playlist which has over 20k listeners.

The unveiling of ‘Really Tho’ arrives alongside news that Biyi will be releasing his new EP ‘+33’ on October 13th. Marking Biyi’s first body of work since 2021’s ‘The Fix’. The captivating and critically-acclaimed 6-track excursion through alternative rap, future bounce, grime, UKG and house music.

Accompanying the EP’s unveiling will be a complimentary short film directed by Kirubel Belay; one half of production company The People’s Pirates (J Balvin, Bad Bunny, J Hus, JVCK James, Kojey Radical, Nao, FKA twigs). The short film will deftly illustrate and bring to life the inward and forthright nature of Biyi’s artistry, push unconventional methods of filmmaking to emanate feelings of nostalgia and skepticism.
