Armand Hammer - the duo of pioneering NYC rappers billy woods and ELUCID - have dropped their magnificently titled new single, Woke Up and Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die.  Watch the video, directed by Joseph below.

Produced by JPEGMAFIA, the song follows Armand Hammer’s previous single, Trauma Mic, which features Pink Siifu and is produced by DJ Haram.  Both tracks are lifted from the duo’s highly-anticipated forthcoming album, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, out 29th September on Fat Possum Records.

On the process of the collaboration with JPEGMAFIA, and how Woke Up and Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die became a catalyst for the album, billy woods writes: "I think that every project I’ve worked on, you are kinda waiting to make your first track that is more than the sum of its parts.  Because some tracks have a dope verse and a really good beat and a great hook, and the song is really dope and that’s cool.  That's a win, for sure, but there are other songs out there.  The ones where all the parts swirl in a unique orbit, building upon each other and all of a sudden the whole thing is floating.  Alchemy.  Base metals turn to gold, etc.  That’s really the moment I’m always waiting for when I start on a new creative journey.  That unmistakable signpost.  On We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, there were more than a few such moments, but this was the very first one.  One take and it was like, yeah that’s it."

Two days after the album’s release, Armand Hammer hit the road for an extensive tour of North America, the UK and Europe.  The dates include shows in Manchester and London, plus an album signing at Rough Trade East.

Armand Hammer’s We Buy Diabetic Test Strips album follows 2021’s Alchemist-produced Haram, but is an entirely different record incorporating live instrumentation and featuring an array of innovative producers, including; El-P, JPEGMAFIA, Kenny Segal, DJ Haram and Black Noi$e; plus guest vocalists Pink Siifu, Moor Mother, Junglepussy, Cavalier, Curly Castro and Moneynicca (of Philly punk band Soul Glo).  Additionally, jazz virtuoso Shabaka Hutchings shows up on flute and was one of several musicians who sat down with ELUCID and engineer Willie Green for a jam session that helped pour the foundations for We Buy Diabetic Test Strips.
