VC Pines - MRI (Album)
After the rousing response to his recently shared singles ‘SUPERMAN’, "Running", "Dangling" and "Colours", the latter of which was recently performed as part of the BBC's coverage of Glastonbury this year, VC Pines has now released his eagerly-awaited debut album 'MRI'.
Largely inspired by his lifelong struggles with epilepsy and seizures while growing up in the capital, 'MRI' is the formation of years of countless experiences that have come to form the VC Pines sound. Moving, passionate, and always mesmerising, this new collection stands at the zenith of his songwriting prowess to date, brimming with emotive textures that highlight some of his most heartfelt and intimate journeys.
Speaking about the new album, he said, "Wow. Can't believe my debut album 'MRI' is actually out. As an independent artist, there are so many mental and physical hurdles you have to throw yourself over and even more when you're managing yourself, to put out projects you’re happy with and make sure that it reaches people. Feeling proud to have made that happen.
"MRI is about my mental health and the journey that my epilepsy has taken me on over the years and takes me on every day. It's about navigating emotions, seizures, nostalgia and keeping hold of the strings that hold your life together, whilst pursuing creativity and growing up in London. As much as the songs are born from my experiences, I hope you find parts of yourselves in the lyrics, and that the album feels just as much yours as it is mine.
"A lot of people in this industry will tell you you're not ready to do something, or that a debut album is something to be saved for when they're involved, or when you have a million followers. Writing and releasing music is therapy to me, I have things to get off my chest right now and I'm not waiting around for people to decide when my time is. So here's MRI, my final introduction, the end of chapter 1. Here's to the next."
