Kwaku Asante - Blue Solstice: Volume 2 (Album)

London singer-songwriter Kwaku Asante releases his highly anticipated nine-track project ‘Blue Solstice: Volume 2’ featuring new single ‘Fun’ alongside unheard tracks, ‘Brand New’ and ‘Love Crimes’. Produced by Maxwell Cooke, ‘Fun’ highlights the complexities of modern dating and how it’s only fun and games until real emotions come into play. This time around, Kwaku finds himself in an awkward position where feelings aren't reciprocated, and a love interest attempts to take the relationship to another level. ‘Blue Solstice Volume 2’ is the follow-up to his acclaimed 2021 3-track EP ‘Blue Solstice: Volume 1’ which was a shift sonically for Kwaku who has been synonymous with emotive and vulnerable music. He has once again shown versatility in successfully fusing R&B, Pop, and Funk, offering a more uptempo and feel-good project that will evoke a multitude of emotions.

Kwaku has fond memories of his younger years, with his love for music igniting both at church and home in a house filled with Gospel and Jazz. Kwaku’s grandfather, A.K Badu, was an executive producer in Ghana - who founded the first record company there in 1954, Ambassador Records Manufacturing - and worked alongside musical royalty Quincy Jones and Fela Kuti. He was influential in Kwaku’s journey, encouraging him to play the piano and sing in the church choir from a young age. This musical lineage is something Kwaku has come to appreciate more as he gets older, and it has become a driving force for him to reach the highest of heights.

Last year Kwaku had notable highlights, including touring with Samm Henshaw and Pip Millet, which led to the singer performing in some of the most iconic venues nationwide. Following his acclaimed Wanderlust EP, Kwaku sold out his headline show at Village Underground, gaining support from Jamz Supernova, Soulection, Afropunk, Clash, Notion, Guap and COLORS along the way and provingwhyhe is the most exciting and loved voices in the UK landscape. Last month, he performed some of tracks from the project at Cloud X Festival, its been extremely well received and Kwaku is excited to finally share ‘Blue Solstice Volume 2’ with the world.
