Whirlwind D - Libra (Album)
Whirlwind D has been a household name in UK Rap for a long time, after a short hiatus he returns with the old skool rap sound we all love, bringing that boom bap bop with the album titled Libra. He's not alone either, proving why Whirlwind D should have a section in all of your record collections he features UK heavyweight names on this release including Jazz T, Lewis Parker, Farma G (Taskforce), Chrome, and long time collaborators Specifik and Djar One on production.
With an up-tempo beat transcending through the majority of the album the hi hats within, Ocean’s Breeze, Sweat and The Music reclaim emotions of nostalgia and reminiscence of the 80s and 90s, keeping hip-hop just as alive as it was back then. In between, False Prophet and Everyday Hustle, incorporate themes of pragmatism that we all definitely need during these more modern times, creating a clean balance between the melody of hip-hop popularised in the 20th century and the contemporary meaningful lyrics of now. All songs within this album are worth a listen with an array of meaningful and meticulous approaches from each one.
As the name suggests this album is a twisting barrage of bars, drums, horns and high tempo beats throughout. There's no sign of Whirlwind D slowing down and we don't want him to. The album Libra is a force to be reckoned with and well worth your time, It’s out now, and although the vinyl is sold out, it is available on all streaming platforms and of course over at Bandcamp’.
