Nevmore - Make Your Mind Up Son (Mixtape)

Fresh from releasing his last single Bricked Up featuring Griselda’s Benny the Butcher last week, which is one of the tracks that takes the lead on Nevmore’s latest mixtape Make Your Mind Up Son. The project has been described as “a mix of ridiculous bars with a summer breeze” by the Northampton rapper and is set to release on September 8th.

Nevmore spends the tape exposing how the world has been treating him throughout the last couple of years; suffering from heartbreak, loss of employment and general difficulties of being a twenty-something in 2023.

When asked about the themes surrounding the project Nevmore had this to say: “By the time I released Cantona, a lot had happened. I had a break up, I lost my job, I wasn’t feeling very me, I felt like a brand new person who wanted to solely focus on [going] gym and [making] music. I wanted to create a fresh slate and develop a new mindset for how everything will affect me going forward.”

Atmospherically, this project is the perfect mixture of a chill summer vibe mixed with that raw energy you feel inside of a mosh pit. It is safe to say that Nevmore has provided something for everyone on Make Your Mind Up Son.

The project includes appearances from artists that Nevmore has worked with in the past such as Leo, deadboi and LT Quickscope. Nev also finds himself working with Blah Records’ Black Josh, Sleazy F Baby and regular collaborator, CLBRKS. The project also features an appearance from Griselda’s Benny the Butcher who is someone Nev has idolised over the last few years.

The production of the mixtape is handled by two talented individuals, Thugs Bunny, who produced Nevmore’s debut mixtape Wellingborough Road and a few tracks from Dreamers of the Day (an EP released earlier this year). And Leo Robinson, someone who Nev looks at as a brother and has collaborated with in the past, on his EP A Set of the Mind and on Wellingborough Road. Leo also did all of the recording, mixing and mastering at Menace Studios in Northampton.

“Leo is like my music brother but we have a really really strong bond, I first met Leo during covid and we really hit it off and who would’ve thought three years later we’re still here making tracks and working together, it’s like Leo, deadboi, LT, Riice, Hxrmz LB, I see these guys as brothers and they are group of lads who have helped me on my journey and I can’t thank them enough”
