Travy - FSSH (Single)
Nigerian-born, Irish-based rapper Travy releases his new single, ‘FSSH’ from his forthcoming mixtape ‘Spooky’ due in December. ‘FSSH’ represents Irish slang that Travy and his friends frequently use to signal something worthy of stopping to take notice. The track represents Travy’s ability to curate anthemic bangers, showcasing his lyrical prowess that has earned him fans far beyond his native. A recent visit to the US included Travy walking in B Gold’s fashion show, a studio session with BKtherula, and now, a viral freestyle with Hunna G with more surprises on the way. Having made his mark with debut projects, DOGHOUSE and Full Circle, alongside collaborator Elzz - which achieved No.1 on the Official Irish Albums charts - he’s now set on laying the foundations for his legacy.
"This song to me is a reaction to life lately more girls, more money, more hate but also more love, more success and more passion for my music. FSSH is a reaction word that Gliders use for when we are amazed by something or impressed so this song is a representation of how impressed I am of mine and my teams work. Also their resilience as well as sharing something local to the world.”
Travy’s father, a general in the Nigerian Army, relocated his family to Dublin in search of a better life, though he would stay behind to continue his military service in Nigeria. Feeling alienated from his home – physically, familially, and spiritually – Travy found solace in a relic from his childhood: his dad’s iPod Nano. Travy fondly remembers the moment he fell in love with rap music. Having run off with the iPod, he stumbled upon 50 Cent’s 2003 classic, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. After becoming obsessed with 50’s storytelling, Travy knew he was destined for a career in hip hop. During his teens, he gained attention almost by accident, freestyling at parties and realising his potential. When Travy and Gliders collaborator Elzzz dropped ‘Full Circle’ in 2023 (which peaked at No.2 in The Irish OCC), the Dublin rising star began to take his rap career seriously. He and Elzzz upped the ante on their 2024 project ‘DOGHOUSE’. Breakout single “Blockbuster” propelled Travy’s rise, earning him No.1 in the official Irish Charts. As Travy begins this next chapter in his thrilling journey, he has the chance to put a whole city and country on his back, and he doesn’t take that lightly. In Dublin, Travy has fostered a community of like-minded artists, a collective now known as Gliders, a multi-purpose collective that operates as a brand and lifestyle. In addition to Tiffany Calver, Rejie Snow, and Maverick Sabre, he has garnered support from publications such as CULTED and Complex.
With co-signs from Jordan Adetunji, Len, Sainte, Strandz and more, Travy is quickly becoming your favourite rappers, favourite rapper. His main mission for the remainder of 2024 is to be at the forefront of conversations around the hugely successful year it's been for Irish Rap, with Travy leading the way.
