Aqyila - Limbo (Single)

One of Canada’s ascendant R&B stars Aqyila releases her latest track, “Limbo.”

The track is a slow and slinky jam, buoyed by a sexy guitar riff and Aqyila’s soaring, uninhibited vocals. Aqyila’s voice commands attention and takes centre stage; the singer is indignant that her lover dare leave her in limbo: “You damn well know / you damn well owe / me for all my time / eatin’ all your lies / it’s getting old.” Aqyila knows her worth and is demanding more and better. Clarity. And she will not be denied.

Aqyila knows she is singing the frustrations of so many fans. “We’ve all been in that place where we feel the tide turning in a relationship and you’re all of a sudden getting crumbs and mixed messages and being taken for granted,” she says. “I wanted to channel all of that confusion and anger into this song and make it an anthem for deserving more.”

“Limbo” is capping off an extraordinary year of successes and releases for Aqyila. 2024 included a JUNO Award for ‘Traditional R&B / Soul Recording of the Year’ for her song “Hello”; the astonishing viral success of “Bloom”; the release of “Most Wanted” and collaborations with Nike and Tribal Carnival; presenting at the Legacy Awards; shows in her native Canada and abroad; and the announcement of her first (now sold out) headlining show in Toronto on December 3rd.
