Isabella Lovestory - Puchica (Official Video)
Isabella Lovestory continues her stream of single offerings with “Puchica” and an accompanying self-directed lo-fi playful music video. The DIY video takes a collage DIY approach, chaotically combining footage of Isabella across a variety of settings; in her living room in Montreal, during soundchecks and performances at recent shows in Chile and Argentina, partying with friends in New York and hanging out on the beach in Chile. Similar to preceding singles “VIP” and “BOTOXXX,” “Puchica” plays with double entendre - this time between winning the lottery and exclaiming the Honduran slang “puchica” for winning it.. “Puchica” is produced by Isabella’s frequent collaborators NYC producer Chicken and UK-Chilean producer Kamixlo.
Speaking of the song’s significance, Lovestory writes ”Puchica is fun, silliness, carefree attitude. I wanted the song to encapsulate that rebellious sassy feeling you get then you say it; it’s not as harsh and negative as exclaiming “puta,” but still has that mischievous c*nty attitude. Naturally, the song is about winning the lottery of “the pussy of the day” and exclaiming “Puchica” once trying it. “Puchica” is “Puta’s” naughty younger sister, carefree, lucky and wants everyone to see her with makeup still intact at sunrise.”
This past May, Isabella took New York City by storm to celebrate the drop of her previously released “BOTOXXX” with a night to remember which commemorated the re-opening of Bushwick’s beloved queer nightclub RASH. Following the explosive exhibition that showcased her unique and maximalist creativity, Isabella embarked on her Plastic Fantasy tour, which included stops in Mexico City, Monterrey and Tijuana, Buenos Aires, Chile, Toronto MX along with a series of Summer festival dates in Europe. She will play iii Points Festival in Miami this coming Saturday.
Born in Honduras before moving to the US and then Canada at 13 years old, Lovestory has always exhibited a deep passion for colliding sound and visuals into an overwhelming barrage of creativity. In 2022, she made her mark with her debut Amor Hardcore, which Pitchfork characterised as “playful, maximalist, and flirtatious to the core.” Isabella continues to establish herself as living on the cutting edge of pop and reggaeton, working alongside boundary-breaking producers and collaborators like Chicken, Kamixlo, Nick León, Ms Nina and Methmath. Always agile as a songwriter and collaborator, Isabella has worked with the likes of LE SSERAFIM on “ANTIFRAGILE” and Villano Antillano on 2023’s “Fuetazo.”
