Maverick Sabre - Burn The Right Things Down (Album)

Singer-Songwriter-Producer Maverick Sabre releases his highly anticipated album Burn The Right Things Down via FAMM. Co-produced by Zach Nahome (known for his work with Bakar, Biig Piig, and PinkPantheress), Burn The Right Things Down emerged from a deep sense of urgency—a brush with existentialism that sparked its creation towards the end of 2023. Over the past three months, the album has taken shape, led by the singles "Roses Ether," "If I Could Only Love You Again," and "Lay Down On Me," each setting the tone for a project that stands apart from anything Mav has done before. Sonically and visually, the album straddles two contrasting worlds: one bathed in vivid, dreamlike sequences, and the other starkly portrayed through a black-and-white lens, reflecting life's harsher truths. At the album's heart, several vital elements emerge as central characters: the raw, evocative presence of searing guitar riffs and the intimate, ongoing dialogue Mav holds within himself. A profound sense of spirituality runs through the fabric of the project, mirroring a personal odyssey, a quest ignited by the dawning awareness of time’s impermanence. This realisation of life’s fleeting nature has become the album's pulse, with each track reflecting Mav’s inner questions, spiritual searching, and evolving consciousness.

Born in Stoke Newington, Mav moved to Ireland when he was four, spending his formative years in County Wexford before returning to London when he was seventeen. Raised on a rich musical diet of Blues, Folk, and Country passed down from his father, he developed an early and unshakable passion for music. This love evolved as he dove into the Irish Hip-Hop scene as a young teen, quickly gaining recognition as both an MC and a producer, crafting beats throughout his adolescence. Over the years, his sound has evolved into a distinctive fusion of his diverse influences, drawing further inspiration from trailblazers like The Stone Roses, The Beatles, Tupac, Cymande, 9th Wonder, DJ Premier and Nas. In today's music landscape, few can claim a career spanning over a decade, but Irish singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Maverick Sabre stands among them. With four albums under his belt and collaborations with artists like George The Poet, Ghetts, Nia Archives, Joey Bada$$, Chronixx, Jorja Smith, Nile Rogers, Vintage Culture and Chase & Status, to name a few, Sabre has kept himself busy.

Over the coming month, Mav will bring Burn The Right Things Down to life with memorable performances in unique settings. He kicked things off with his Live To Vinyl at the legendary Metropolis Studios in West London, where he recorded the album in a single take, pressed live to vinyl in front of an intimate audience of just 30 people—capturing the magic in real-time. Following this, Mav will embark on a four-date tour at Rough Trade venues, hitting Liverpool, Bristol, and Nottingham, before wrapping up at Earth in Hackney in October (dates below). Burn The Right Things Down is an artistic exploration of the delicate balance between the finite and the eternal, woven into sound. Both the project and Mav embrace the idea that tomorrow isn't guaranteed, urging a release of self-imposed fears and a commitment to creating what is raw and honest.
