Dave Drake ft: Teni Tinks - Heartbreak & Memories (Single)

Since releasing debut single ‘By My Side’ in 2023, alongside an accompanying remix earlier in the year, Dave Drake has been busy touring and producing across the United States. Finding time to develop his solo artistry, he returns once again in 2024 with the R&B-tinged new single ‘Heartbreak & Memories’ featuring Teni Tinks.

The single blends together silky melodies and emphatic trap-style production, creatively packaged to build an emotive sonic foundation. Built around Teni Tinks’ defiant delivery, ‘Heartbreak & Memories’ tells tales of youth, young love, and self-discovery. Atmospheric synthesis builds a profound atmosphere across the track, cutting a sincere groove alongside ardent lyricism and boundary-pushing production.

Speaking about the release, Dave Drake explains, “I did a writing camp in Colombia with my friends, this record was one of the first tracks we cut. It was written by my longtime friend Shamba Griffin, an amazing singer, songwriter and artist. The track was inspired by being in a space where women feel like they have no choice but to hone a ‘masculine’ energy, while equally wanting to let their guard down and love again - but if it's going to cause heartbreak, they don't want it.”

Dave Drake has been one of the busiest names on the scene since studying at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Working alongside the likes of A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Teyana Taylor, Kehlani and many more, he has spent time touring across the United States. Now taking the time to develop his solo brand, Dave has been moving from strength to strength since releasing his debut solo release ‘By My Side’ in 2023. Lacing his sound with an emphatic edge, his gripping approach to music-making defies genre and taps into a soulful, heartfelt sentiment.
