Kabaka Pyramid - UK Tour + Interview
Hot on the heels of a legendary performance at Jamrock (as part of South Facing festival) alongside Damian Marley this summer, reggae sensation Kabaka Pyramid is returning to the UK for a string of live shows this October, as part of a mammoth European tour.
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Kabaka Pyramid is one of the leading figures in the global reggae scene. A conscious revolutionary, he blends the power, energy and melody of reggae with the lyricism of hip hop - whilst carrying on the tradition of protest music out of Jamaica.
His socially conscious and politically potent music has won the hearts of reggae fans young and old across the world. His last album, the modern classic 'The Kalling' (produced by Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley) won 'Best Reggae Album' at The Grammy's, solidifying Kabaka’s standing as one of Jamaica’s most loved musical exports.
The fifteen-track masterpiece features frequent collaborators like Protoje, Black Am I and Jesse Royal, as well as more recent collaborators like the legendary Buju Banton and Stephen Marley. His sophomore album (following debut ‘Kontraband’), ‘The Kalling’ is a symphony of high level contemporary reggae, which speaks to the listener on the highest of planes, the clearest most accurate musical statement about the evolution of his craft.
The UK tour spans shows in key cities London, Bristol, Birmingham and Sheffield, as well as the Womex Expo in Manchester and the Falmouth Reggae Festival.
