Tzusan X Billy Got Waves - The Girl With The Dragonfly Tattoo (NEW SINGLE)

After a brief hiatus from releasing solo music and a string of collaborations with the likes of Shogun, Sonnyjim, Manga Saint Hilare, CLBRKS, and more, forward thinking Scottish rapper/producer Tzusan is gearing up for his first full-length solo LP since 2022’s “WSPSNSYRP” saw him gain traction in the UK scene boasting features in XLR8R, The Fader, and more alongside spins on Rinse.FM and a nomination for the Scottish Alternative Music Award.

The new project is an evolution of the classic Tzusan sound updated, polished, and refined with a list of features including some heavy hitters from the UK’s underground rap scene and beyond.

The first single from the forthcoming LP, titled “The Girl With The Dragonfly Tattoo” sees Tzusan link up with Edinburgh’s IMA Award winning future R’n’B artist Billy Got Waves for an unexpected collab that is bound to turn a few heads. Blending Tzusan’s intricate, surreal-edged wordplay with Billy’s ephemeral, floating melodies over an ice-cold instrumental which draws as much from afrobeats and hyperpop as it does traditional hip-hop, the track dances across the fine lines between tradition and innovation with a warped sense of melancholy. Sonically the track is awash with subdued synths, deep sub-bass, snapping drums, and otherworldly crackle resulting in a soundscape which combines elements of UK Rap with more leftfield influences such as Sega Bodega, Burial and the late SOPHIE.

Loosely inspired by Don Delillo’s classic novel “Cosmopolis” with matching visuals from @mindwanders.art shot in the back of limousine in sunny Glasgow, the track deals with themes of capitalist excess, spiritual stagnation, and lost love in an age of consumerist hyper-reality viewed through Tzusan’s unapologetically absurdist lens.
