Travy - Master Shifu (Official Video)

Nigerian-born, Irish-raised rapper Travy releases new single, ‘Master Shifu’ taken from his forthcoming mixtape ‘Spooky’. ‘Master Shifu’ highlights Travy’s playful approach to Rap driven by his cinematic storytelling of his musical journey so far. The track is a light-hearted nod to the animation film King-Fu Panda and the in-film trainer, Master Shifu; a character who matches Travy’s tenacity. The hard-hitting production - from frequent collaborator Liam Harris - aligns with Travy’s success-driven persona in lyrics such as, “Since a young man I’ve been so hungry, empty plate but my belly still full”. In addition to a recent co-sign from KSI, Travy’s last single ‘FSSH’ was featured on DJ Semtex’s ‘5 Tracks You Need To Know’ and garnered global attention with his ‘On Our Radar’ performance.

Travy’s father, a general in the Nigerian Army, relocated his family to Dublin in search of a better life, though he would stay behind to continue his military service in Nigeria.  Feeling alienated from his home – physically, familially, and spiritually – Travy found solace in a relic from his childhood: his dad’s iPod Nano. Travy fondly remembers the moment he fell in love with rap music. Having run off with the iPod, he stumbled upon 50 Cent’s 2003 classic, Get Rich or Die Tryin. After becoming obsessed with 50’s storytelling, Travy knew he was destined for a career in hip hop. During his teens, he gained attention almost by accident, freestyling at parties and realising his potential. When Travy and Gliders collaborator Elzzz dropped ‘Full Circle in 2023 (which peaked at No.2 in The Irish OCC), the Dublin rising star began to take his rap career seriously. He and Elzzz upped the ante on their 2024 project ‘DOGHOUSE’.  Breakout single “Blockbuster” propelled Travy’s rise, earning him No.1 in the official Irish Charts. As Travy begins this next chapter in his thrilling journey, he has the chance to put a whole city and country on his back, and he doesn’t take that lightly. In Dublin, Travy has fostered a community of like-minded artists, a collective now known as Gliders, a multi-purpose collective that operates as a brand and lifestyle. In addition to Jordan Adetunji, Len, Sainte, Strandz, Tiffany Calver, Rejie Snow, and Maverick Sabre, he has garnered support from publications such as CULTED, GUAP and Complex.

Continuing his growing motion ahead of the next project, Travy performed alongside Kairo Keyz at his own Halloween party in Dublin, powered by his collective Gliders and Lost Boys. Considering he’s the first generation of Black-Irish rappers, Travy is flying the flag for the entire generation after him. He has already completed culture-shaking groundwork in influencing the growing community in Dublin with his music, fashion and creative endeavors.
