UK R&B-pop duo Tempress share their new single ‘Future Valentine’, out everywhere on 14 February.

Known for crafting delectably sultry pop infused R&B/soul, Tempress return with their gorgeous new single - just in time for Valentines Day. A love song at its core, it was written about the first romantic spark with someone. The song uses elements of early 2000’s R&B with neo soul chords and smooth harmonies combined with direct lyrics and ethereal, haunting sound design to create the feeling of venturing into the unknown.

Speaking of the track, Tempress say, “Jessi is a valentines baby (her birthday is on 14th Feb) so she loves a bit of love! You’ve been playing the field for a while, been unlucky in love, but meet someone out of the blue, and they take you by surprise. For the first time in a long time you feel hopeful about the future - that’s what we wanted to write a song about! We hope that it captures that one of a kind feeling of falling for someone in the early stages of a relationship.”

Tempress is made up of Jessi Clover Belgrave and Vlad Woodham-Smith on vocals and production. Having met while studying at Goldsmiths, the duo soon realised their mutual love of soulful R&B and the way their vocals compliment each other so effortlessly. From there, Tempress was born. Having released their debut track ‘Lies’ in 2016, the duo have gone from strength to strength, releasing their debut EP ‘Body’ in 2021.
