Miranda Joan - She Knows (Edit) (Single)

“She Knows - Edit” is a special International Women’s Day release from Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, and musician Miranda Joan. “She Knows” is an ode to the beauty, resilience and limitless power of female friendships and familial relationships. The original features on Miranda’s recent album ‘Overstimulated’ which will be released on marinara red vinyl on Friday 5th April.

Having recently supported Adi Oasis in New York, Miranda will be performing at SXSW as part of the Submit Hub Showcase on Thursday 14th March at Esther’s Follies and at Perelman Performing Arts Center (Lobby Stage), New York on Friday 22nd March before heading back out on tour with The Killers later this year.

“She Knows” was co-produced by multi-instrumentalist, and bass extraordinaire CARRTOONS and features string arrangements from Kristine Kruta aka Lil Kruta (The Eagles), Clairo keys player Danae Greenfield and Grammy-winning bassist Ben Williams.

“I sat down at the piano thinking about the friends in my life. The friends whose love pierce through all the mess and noise we onboard as we grow up; those friends who can remind you of who you are, because they actually know.”

“She Knows” leans into the nostalgia and warmth of childhood and the naivety of youth. Opening with the scarcity of piano chords, Kristine Kruta’s string arrangement elevates the track alongside Miranda’s lyrical exploration into the push and pull we experience along the journey of life. The personal touches of this track reach out to anyone who has experienced the friendships that hold you, that grab you by the ankles and pull you back to earth, and that remain a safe place to land.

“Being a woman comes with a complex set of stories. I am increasingly in awe of and grateful for those who live in strength and self-knowing and remind me of our power. Particularly in the last couple years when it has been seemingly under siege, I find solace in the women around me who show up for one another; not just in times of crisis but also in times of great joy and success. This song is in honor of the friends who can see through choppy waters and into the crystal clear hues of your humanity; those who truly see you, who love you, who know you.
