Beljune - Glass Half Full (Single)

Following ‘Poison’ and ‘Poster Boy’ that landed on several Spotify editorial playlists such as Fresh Finds (1.2m followers) and GLOW (the best new music from LGBTQ+ artists), Birmingham-born London-based singer-songwriter Beljune (a pseudonym formed of both his Nan’s names) returns with the silky ‘Glass Half Full’ due to come out 15th March 2024 and featuring a sample from Leo Bormans’ TED Talk on humanity’s ongoing quest for happiness.

Blessed with an unmistakable suave voice, ‘Glass Half Full’ sees Beljune trading longing vocal motifs amongst uplifting instrumentation, low slung beats and sultry bassline. Inspired by a vision at his hometown station, witnessing a stranger crying into a beautiful bouquet of flowers, the song dives deep into Beljune’s intentions of being more present and to “take it as it comes” (a lyrical nod to the famous Doors’ song), opening the discussion around mental health whilst also acknowledging his own self-work. He explains “My head is often so stuck in the future and in a particularly anxious period of my life, it’s a mentality shift I recognised I needed, to try and be more present, to take it all as it comes, tap into that glass half full mentality more. As much as it’s a positive message, it’s a reminder to myself to keep doing that work.”
