Remi Wolf has forged her own genre-bending lane gaining the status of alternative pop darling, festival favourite, muse and peer to artists of all ages and distinctions. She’s made a career of blowing past boundaries and expectations and today she enters into a new chapter with the announcement of her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Big Ideas, out July 12th on EMI Records. Pre-order here.

To commemorate her return, Remi has released the first musical offering off her upcoming album with the disco-rock bop, “Cinderella.” For fans that have come to know and love Remi’s sound - her blend of nostalgic funk, indie rock, alt pop, catchy-as-hell toplines and classic production, “Cinderella” is a welcome addition to her lively musical cannon.

“‘Cinderella’ is a lyrical collage of the ups and downs and mood swings and transient lifestyle I was experiencing while writing this album. Constant travel and rapid changes led me to feel such a rollercoaster of emotion- moving from feeling really insecure to feeling really good to feeling manic and depressed and then feeling OK again, while desperately craving a grounding figure to tell me I was doing a good job. So, this song was me stepping in as my own fairy godmother telling myself that I was in control. Sonically, I wanted the song to have a sense of 70s nostalgia while still feeling like a record made today. And I wanted to make something where you can’t help but dance and move and feel good while listening. I recorded this at Electric Lady in New York at the beginning of 2023. I initially made the song with just myself and Solomonophonic - and then I was able to bring in some amazing horns players to round out the sauce,” says Remi.

Co-directed by Ragan Henderson and Remi herself, Wolf’s colourful persona warms up the city of Los Angeles in “Cinderella’s” lighthearted new music video. Dressed in a vintage jazzercise-esque bodysuit, the cross-generational pop darling unleashes some summertime funk with the help of her rainbow hued back up dancers and band ensemble, who all accompany Remi for a field day at the park. The video’s boisterous choreography, along with a magical touch hidden in Remi’s vintage high-rise ankle warmers, extrude the reassuring confidence she carries into her Big Ideas artistic era. Mac Demarco also makes a cameo as the local ice cream man there to offer a cone and dance.

Big Ideas propels Remi to new heights as her honed sense of self and musicianship is on full display, presenting her big ideas as a magnum opus of guitar-smashing, hair-raising, soul-bearing, lung-filling, life-altering bangers. Following the release of her 2021 critically acclaimed debut album Juno, Remi’s ascent into stardom has been undeniable. She has performed all over the world; whether it be at festivals like CoachellaLollapaloozaGovernors BallSXSWNewport Folk Festival and Bonnaroo, selling out tours across North America and Europe at venues like Terminal 5 in NYC or The Shrine in LA, or opening for artists like LordeRed Hot Chili Peppers and Paramore. This Spring she heads out on tour with Olivia Rodrigo on her European leg of the The GUTS World Tour, playing venues like The O2 in London and Accor Arena in Paris.
