Potatohead People ft: Redman - Last Night (Single)

Vancouver’s premiere multi-faceted production duo Potatohead People (aka Nick Wisdom AstroLogical) make their long awaited return to Bastard Jazz with their 4th album, ‘Eat Your Heart Out’.

Their comeback follows hit singles with De La Soul and Illa J that left us begging for more - and this new album, with plenty of surprises and a stellar cast of guests, keeps adding to Potatohead People distinctive sonic world.

Jumping off on the clean & musical production sensibilities that they have become heavily fetishized for over the last decade, the album finds the duo further stepping out from the shadow of the boards and stepping into the spotlight as vocalists, songwriters, players and musicians standing strong in their own respect.

On ‘Eat Your Heart Out’, their iconic blend of hip-hop, funk, boogie, soul and R&B gains a new richer dimension, with original instrumentation replacing their laidback beats. A natural evolution that brings their vision on stage with a 10 pieces live band.

'Last Nite' is the first single taken from the LP and features bonafide Hip-Hop legend Redman, in top lyrical form atop the classic Rhodes driven Hip-Hop vibe of the track. Showcasing the instrumental prowess and songwriting chops of the duo, the Potatohead-sung hook is hazy & infectious while the groove rides out with horn flourishes, funky analog bass and synth solos. Lyrically the chorus touches on the day to day aspects of being in a relationship, while Red rides out the crazy business that had literally happened to him the night before.
