DC ft: Blanco - The Curb (Official Video)
South London rising rapper DC has released his latest single 'The Curb' featuring Blanco. With a distinctive blend of rap, alternative rap, and grime, DC has been making waves in the music scene, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide.
‘'The Curb' is part of a string of releases coming over the year in the lead up to a new project, which explores themes of chess, navigating through life, and making strategic moves. 'The Curb' promises to be a captivating addition to DC's repertoire.
DC says: “I feel like with the Curb it came out exactly how I wanted it to you know. From the Blanco feature to the feel and vibe of the tune. I wanted something with a bit of tempo to it, I speak about the grime influences I’ve had coming up and this track was one of those ones where I wanted to tap into that. Even down to the back and forth between me and Blanco, it was all an ode to that influence.”
DC's journey to success has been marked by notable milestones, including supporting J Hus on tour, delivering an electrifying set at Wireless Festival, and a standout COLORS performance. His debut EP 'In The Loop', featured a collaboration from Knucks and the wizardry of producer TSB—is what defined DC’s project.
'The Latest', one of DC's biggest tracks, which is currently on over 18M streams garnered over 50K units independently, solidifying his status as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Known for his introspective lyrics and distinctive flow, DC's music resonates deeply with his audience, often referencing his roots and personal experiences.
DC's previous successes have garnered acclaim from outlets such as Wonderland, CLASH, and DJ Semtex, with co-signs from industry heavyweights like J Hus and KwolleM. With support from platforms like BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, and Rinse FM, DC has cultivated a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting his next move. His upcoming tape features sensational collaborations with global artists, promising an exciting musical journey for his fans.
With recent performances in Paris alongside Cristale and Unknown T, DC continues to expand his global footprint, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances, unique sound and compelling storytelling, he remains poised to make a lasting impact on the music scene.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, DC moved to the UK with his mother when he was five years old. Settling in Woolwich, South East London. Initially, DC’s dream had been to pursue a career in football and, for a while, that looked like the path he’d go down, but the timing wasn’t right and that didn’t quite pan out. Eventually, he found his way into university where he discovered that the little bits of writing and rhyming he’d been playing around with at home might actually have some mileage. It was around this time he recorded the “Gleamin’ Freestyle”. Currently sitting at 556,000 views on YouTube, even the preview he posted to Twitter went viral and still gets reshared in conversations about the greatest UK freestyles.
By rights, DC’s name should be mentioned in the same breath as Little Simz or Loyle Carner. Now there’s nothing holding DC back and he’s on track for a big 2024. In The Loop proved beyond doubt that he’s got the talent, the tunes, and the vision, so it’s only a matter of time before he takes his rightful place at the top table. The main thing for him, though, is staying true to one’s self: “I represent just being true to yourself, being honest at all times — especially with yourself — being self-aware of myself, and my environment. That way, you can never get lost on your journey.”
