Proph - Milano (Official Video)
Rising South London rapper Proph returns with the new single 'Milano', the first of many to follow in a hugely significant year. 'Milano' is mood music for real rap fans and the generations before and after him, packed with cultural references to Tech Fleece’, his likeness to Cristiano Ronaldo or his ambition to pop up at Milan Fashion Week. The 20-year-old's attention to detail sets him apart from his contemporaries, and he continues to have fun and fly the flag for Thornton Heath, as referenced in the video. The excitement around Proph's name continues to flourish, with him becoming your artists' favourite artist with notable co-signs from Wretch 32, Ghetts and Stormzy. Proph has strengthened his reputation as an artist unafraid to use his platform to educate and spread awareness on subjects close to his heart, such as love, family, life’s struggles and global issues in his recent single ‘'The Guilt Trip Freestyle’'.
"Milano is my first single of the year and is one of my favourite songs I've ever made, the flow and sound is so unique to me.. I was rinsing it for a good 8 months now I'm dropping it!"
Proph is the abbreviated version of the name given to him by his grandfather at birth. That name (Prophet) has defined his destiny ever since, and the South Londoner is already on course to lead UK Rap to the promised land and beyond. Teenage dreams of becoming an author saw Proph's early scribblings transform into lyrics and fully-fledged songs but they always retained a storytelling edge and have now become a hallmark, which can be heard across Proph's discography. The versatility extends far beyond the lyrical mastery and the vocal range, Proph is an entirely self-taught/self-produced artist. Proph produced every track on his debut EP, 'Lost In Translation', which was a monumental moment in his journey so far, and he will almost certainly lend his talents to executive producing once he reigns supreme as a solo artist. This reign had already begun with bookings nationwide at Wireless, Nass and Reading & Leeds festivals. International bookings soon followed with Sziget Festival in Hungary welcoming Proph as well. Peers and contemporaries alike have been paying attention, Proph opened up for Avelino's headline show last year before supporting Birmingham heavyweight MIST on his three-leg UK tour in December. The co-signs don't stop there, the likes of Kenny Allstar, Popcaan, have all given him their approval. He also featured on the BET Hip Hop Awards 2023 cypher alongside Ghetts, Jordy and more to celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop.
It's hard to identify what's missing in Proph's sound, as he offers a blend of introspective wordplay and avant-garde instrumentals, which are primarily self-produced. 2024 is destined to be his Jordan year.
