Yaz León ft: Bukky - 4th Wall (Single)

Well-known for her daring sound, London-hailing singer-songwriter Yaz León has gifted listeners with her latest hypnotic release. Calling on fellow newcomer Bukky, “4th Wall” is a mesmerising release that’s embellished with a variety of sonic elements, creating an irresistible summer sizzler that’s set to feature on Yaz León’s forthcoming EP, ‘Bleach’.

Not one to shy away from experimentation, Yaz León is a fearless artist who boasts an unrivalled versatility. Following on from the April release “Mouthwash”, a euphoric and indie leaning spin, the storyteller has channelled a captivating energy for “4th Wall”. Based around the questioning of identity and navigating individual growth, “4th Wall” is a chaotic yet seamless listen that marks a point of awareness. Complimenting each other’s styles effortlessly, both Yaz León and Bukky create a dream-like scape whilst sharing a state of vulnerability that the pair have bonded over.

Speaking on the story behind the single, Yaz León commented, “4th wall is kind of a ‘hater’ and a “help I’m spiralling” song … It’s got a lot of nods to my Muslim and Catholic upbringing and my (hefty) phases of disillusionment with organised religions. That’s what me and Bukky bonded on. It’s fair to question the authenticity of support and trust in some of these spaces. I think that’s partly because pride is shown so transactionally in mainstream culture, and there’s so much traditionalism lurking in the corners. There’s no room for understanding or growth because of all that outside pressure. It’s a bit of a bummer.  At least the beat we made is fun.”

Yaz León is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter that evolves with each release. Hailing from West London, the Spanish-Iraqi, artist, producer and singer-songwriter enjoys mixing indie and soul elements to create emotionally dysfunctional music. Sharing her debut EP ‘ITS ONLY TAKEOUT MA’ in 2022 which caught the eyes of many online, Yaz León is a twenty-something woman documenting her human experience so far. Well known for her use of vulnerability and being able to captivate her listeners with her spellbinding lyricism, Yaz’s fearless approach to music is building a growing fan-base that are eager for more.

Housing support from Wonderland, Notion, COLORS, BBC Introducing London, The Line of Best Fit, The Forty Five, Noctis Magazine, Ones To Watch, Earmilk, Lyrical Lemonade, Postscript Magazine, Dance Wax, and more, alongside performances for Sofar Sounds (London & Brighton) and BBC Music Introducing, Yaz León continues to prove why she’s an artist to watch. As she continues to make her mark in music, “4th Wall” is another taste of what’s yet to arrive from her forthcoming EP.
