Maeesha b - If Only U Knew (EP)

After garnering attention around a flourishing sound in her early career, Maeesha b set an intention for 2024, unveiling the exciting new single ‘DON’T DELAY’, outlining an evolution for her sound. Now Maeesha arrives with her debut EP If Only U Knew, sharing a collection of tracks she calls her ”R&B LOVE SONGS”. Stretching her sound from sultry, romantic performances on tracks like ‘CALL ME’ to high-energy, Jersey Club influences on ‘BACK IT UP’ and swathes of Afro-beat warmth on ‘PROVE IT’. Crafting mesmerising sounds with each new avenue her creativity takes her, the project is a vivid inspiration, cementing Maeesha’s spot as a true rising star.

Emerging from Ottawa, Canada, Maeesha is a singer and rapper who has turned heads with her talent since the age of thirteen. Singing from the age of six, Maeesha was soon set on her future, using her French heritage to steadily craft a potent cocktail of influences, texture and cultures. Coming third place in Music Jeunesse in Quebec, she has also performed at a Black History Month gala and received vocal coaching and production from Shaun Royer and Roy Hamilton respectively.

 This year has been particularly prolific for Maeesha B, with a series of singles that have resonated deeply with fans and critics alike. Tracks like “Don’t Delay,” “You’re Mine,” “Written in the Stars,” and “Into Me” have not only showcased her vocal prowess but also her ability to seamlessly blend contemporary rap with soulful R&B melodies. Drawing inspiration from industry icons like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and SZA, Maeesha B's music is a compelling fusion of these influences, infused with her own unique flair.

Critics have often compared Maeesha b to H.E.R., noting her compelling vocal quality and the emotional depth of her performances. Maeesha B has honed her craft with the help of renowned vocal coaches, including the late Shaun Royer and Nick Cooper, the latter known for his work with Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj. Her performances at significant events such as the Boys of Summer Tour, Playlist Live, and OBJ X Toronto have further cemented her status as an emerging artist to watch.

Maeesha’s first single, ‘Nobody’, was launched in January 2021. With lyrics, “Life can be complicated, but I’m always dedicated. I don’t need your opinion, already set my mission. Live to be humble, but I’m still on that hustle…” Maeesha’s songwriting talents place her on a high level with other elite songwriters.
