JSWISS ft: Eric Roberson - Superman (Single)

“Superman feat. Eric Roberson” is the new single from accomplished New York MC JSWISS. Produced by frequent collaborator Paul Bloom and featuring vocals from Eric Roberson“Superman” is a song for all those who strive to do amazing things in life, and are praised for all they take on, overcome and accomplish. Lyrically, JSWISS explores the idea that those extraordinary powers and strengths come with a weight of the heavy responsibility to use those powers to do it all, for yourself and for everyone around you.

The track follows recent single “One feat. Marcus Strickland” which saw support from New Music Fix, BBC 6Music and VIBE Magazine, alongside performances from the prolific artist at New York’s Blue Note joining CARRTOONSKiefer and Nate Smith on stage, supporting Ana Tijoux at LPR New York and appearing as part of BAM Brooklyn’s World. Sound. Power. series.

“I'm an ambitious and driven artist, and I'm also a son and friend who cares about being there for the ones I love, and I also recognize the importance of taking care of my own mental health. I know it's important to be vulnerable and honest in the moments I struggle, but I also believe thoughts influence reality, so I aim to think positive, have uncommon faith, and not give negative, limiting thoughts too much power. It can be a lot for me, and for a lot of people. I'm not alone. - JSWISS.

Through lightly layered instrumentation “Superman feat. Eric Roberson” embraces and evokes the heartfelt authenticity of the lyrics. Crafted from scratch between Paul Bloom and JSWISS, the gentle melody of Eric Roberson’s vocal chorus creates the perfect bed to underpin JSWISS’s reflective verses. Having known Eric for over half his life, this was JSWISS’s first opportunity to collaborate with him; “as a pioneer of the independent R&B/soul artist movement, releasing music and touring for 30 years, and as a father, Eric can relate to soaring while feeling like you’re doing a little of everything”. Having been named by DJ Jazzy Jeff as “one of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time”, Eric’s recent single “Lessons (Remix)” features Anthony Hamilton, Raheem Devaughn and Kevin Ross.

On collaborations and his own solo releases JSWISS continues to develop a reputation as a consistent and adaptable artist. Recently collaborating with Sly5thAve on ‘Somebody’s Gotta Do It’, the pair embodied the improvisational energy of the world of New York jam sessions and open mics. The release received support from Lauren LaverneHuey Morgan (BBC 6Music), Tony Minvielle(Jazz FM) and KCRW and the pair went on to perform tracks from the release supporting Alfa Mist on his US tour. His work with Michael Leonhart has led to collaborations with Elvis CostelloKeyon Harrold, and DJ Logic, with performances broadcast on NPRWBGO and FIP. He has also provided vocals for Bruk Rogers on his Tru Thoughts release, gaining support from BBC 6Music and beyond.

Beyond this JSWISS has received acclaim and praise from the likes of The SourceComplex, Hip Hop DX, Ambrosia For Heads, Soultracks, WeeklyRap Godsand RESPECT Magazine.
