10+13 - Not A Gimmik (Single)
18th July 2024 - Pushing a new creative direction both sonically and aesthetically, South-East London’s rising collective 10+13, made up of 23AZ, 23Nezz, and 23Sunz, have shared their brand-new eerie single named, “Not A Gimmik”. Encapsulating the UK’s underground rap scene by showcasing their lyrical prowess and ingenious production, “Not A Gimmik” is the first of many releases set to drop this year from the trio.
Documenting their twenty somethings through masterful lyricism, 10+13 weave elements of US Hip-Hop and conscious rap over blissful backdrops, forming a comforting relatability enriched with depth and emotion. Following up from 23AZ’s solo release “China White”, alongside “Big Business” with 23AZ and 23Nezz, 10+13 are gearing up for a string of collaborative releases. Not one to shy away from experimental production, the trio flaunt their ability to form deeper connections with a growing audience through the use of candid lyrical content. Going back-to-back on this irresistible spin, “Not A Gimmik” is a breath of fresh air amidst the commercial sounds brewing from TikTok.
Formed by rapper’s 23AZ, and 23Nezz alongside producer 23Sunz, the creative trio behind 10+13 have been bubbling away behind the scenes for some time. Having met in Secondary School, the boys grew up together and have since shared a lot of life experience as a trio. Working together to make their dreams of becoming a house-hold name true, 10+13 hold community and culture close to their identity. Blending each of their creative flares, the trio have formed a sound that sits firmly within the British underground rap scene, forming an unorthodox and authentic initiative. Referencing artists including Bashfortheworld, Cassisdead and Westside Gunn as well as ASAP Mob, Wu Tang and Section Boyz, 10+13 aspire to make their mark in a similar fashion both aesthetically and sonically. 23Sunz more recently produced trailblazer’s BXKS song “Excuse Me” and Joe James, whilst 23AZ is set to appear on Arz’ forthcoming mixtape dropping later this year. Set to feature on their forthcoming mixtape, “Not A Gimmik” is a glimpse into what we can expect from the project.
