London’s rising R&B sensation Reuben Aziz returns with double single ‘Only One’ and ‘millirock ru’. Taken from a highly anticipated project - yet to be announced - ‘Only One’ pairs Reuben’s ethereal vocals with a self-produced instrumental reminiscent of The Neptunes and Timberland as he flexes his abilities to sing and rap. His serenading falsetto leads the track, which is an ode to his love interest and their commitment to one another “I wanna know are you feeling me, if I leave would you leave with me”. The B side of the release, ‘millirock ru’ is a freestyle over collaborator Wolfacejoeyy’s ‘who me’ instrumental and recently went viral during a recent appearance on Balamii Radio. A busy start to the year saw Reuben support Artemas’ EU tour, where he performed in Germany, Denmark, Poland, France, Ireland, and London for their Village Underground homecoming.

“With ‘Only You’ I wanted to make something for summer but in my own way. It began with the guitars that you hear at the beginning of the song and incorporated most of my main inspirations production-wise. It’s a track that I felt like people can dance too, which is different from everything i’ve released so far.”

Music has always been a massive part of Reuben Aziz’ life. Raised on his father’s favourite artists, Tupac, The Fugees and DMX, he later found his influences in Frank Ocean, and Pharrell, to name a few. Reuben is a self-taught vocalist and guitar player who began writing music at ten and producing at fourteen; it’s safe to say music was his first love. Having spent his teens on a mission to become a professional basketballer, the former 6’2 point guard had a creative pivot during lockdown, which saw many of his rap freestyles go viral. Reuben credits his restless energy with helping establish his sound that conceives a brew of modern soul-intoxicating lyricism poured with a saccharine falsetto. The infectious sped-up version of his love letter ‘find u’ increased his global awareness and established his name further in the UK scene. Longevity and legacy are as much the new dream as Reuben Aziz is becoming the new tomorrow. With the next-gen era of R&B at an all-time high with many artists such as Sekou, Nippa, Konyikeh, Natanya, Reuben is on a mission to make his mark. Reuben’s recent tour support with Aretas saw him perform live acoustic renditions of his discography and covers which helped garner new European fans.
