Jack Howard - All Thing That Came Before (EP)
Garnering notability across 2024 with support from BBC Radio 1, 1883 and Wordplay on a string of successful teasers, Jack Howard now delivers his debut EP, All Thing That Came Before. Curating a dreamy tracklist selection, the project is a beautiful reflection of his journey, capturing themes of growing up, masculinity, relationships and grief across five glowing tracks.
Jack’s songwriting finds solace in the hazy soundscape, maintaining a sense of authentic emotion as he dives through the anthemic pop grit of ‘Circles’, the delicate neo-soul rhythms of ‘Another Day’ and the brooding gospel cries of ‘Falling’. Newcomers ‘Just A Kid’ and ‘Last Dance’ continue the trend of energising warmth, the first embracing dynamic distorted guitar riffs and roaring vocal performances and the second evoking a sense of being dragged out to sea as Jack’s fragility is laid bare. All Things That Came Before is nothing if not honest, with Jack wrapping his captivating outpours in a gripping variety of instrumentation, leaving the door open for audiences to share his monumental talent.
Jack further shares: “I wanted this project to be a snapshot of me growing up and turning into the person I am today. Originally it was going to be a collection of songs I liked but as I started making these songs they slowly formed into a picture of my life. Each song is based around an experience I believe shaped me to be the man I am today. This EP centres around grief, hope, childhood and family.“
Leaving his home town of Portsmouth to ignite a flourishing career in the UK capital, Jack’s sell-out shows in London venues such as Prince Albert and Colours Hoxton helped him to grace festival stages at The Great Escape and Wild Paths, with his electrifying live shows becoming central to his success.
With a strong year so far, and many more to come, Jack Howard is set to take the world by storm, consistently revealing new layers of his songwriting talent, and capturing new audiences with each release.
