“Twin Flame” is the new single from South-London vocalist, songwriter, producer and Tomorrow’s Warriors alumni RYBES. Known for her production stylings under the alias BLK Current, RYBES has amassed acknowledgement from the likes of Quest LovePick Up Music and Guitar Mag. Quickly rising in the UK R&B, indie soul and electronic scenes with her solo project, the track follows debut single “Wading”, released earlier this year which saw support from Victoria Jane (BBC Radio 1) and Fresh Residency (Kiss FM).

Following a performance at Chaka Khan’s Meltdown Festival at Southbank Centre, London, RYBES will celebrate the release of the single with a special live show at Pizza Express Live (Holborn) on 31st July – INFO HERE.

“Twin flame is the feeling of being drawn towards someone’s energy, as if you had met before. Personally, I realised that a twin flame usually reflects your inner energy, self-desire, or self-recognition. Hence, the song is about me meeting myself in another form, through a different lens, and wanting to meet or attract that version of me to come to life” – RYBES

“Twin Flame” sits at the intersection between broken electronic beats and soul music, as RYBES vocals float across an experimentation of glitchy sounds and textures, creating a dynamic and layered melody enhanced with additional piano from Jay Verma. Self-produced, RYBES arguments her vocals, emphasising the storyline of finding her twin flame within herself. The track ends with a chaotic swell of glitchy vocals and upbeat drums – representing the moment she meets her other self. The contrasting genres are reflected in the dark and light, ying and yang, imagery echoed across the track and in the music video – directed by Kathryn MacCorgarry Gray.

Creating her own orbit with warm guitar tones and ethereal vocals on her recorded music, RYBES’ live sets often include strings and horn sections. She has performed at Cross the Tracks and We Out Here Festival, and at coveted venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Soho House, Hackney Round Chapel, and Jazz Cafe. Respected and credited by her musical peers and icons alike, RYBES has supported artists such as Rueben James, Nao, Bel Cobain and Samm Henshaw and produced for the likes of Nia Wyn and Ni Maxine under her producer pseudonym BLK Current.

RYBES is an alumnus of Tomorrow's Warriors and Julian Joseph Academy, where jazz greats have been nurtured. At the end of 2022, she received funding from The Ronnie Scott’s Foundation to support the recording of “Wading”, and her forthcoming releases. She has also received funding from Help Musicians UK and PRS Foundation, contributing to the mixing, mastering and promotion of her debut EP due to be released in Autumn 2024.
