Kitty Liv - Easy Tiger (Album)
‘Easy Tiger’ is the debut album from Kitty Liv, better known as one third of the successful and acclaimed family band, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, released via Sunday Best Recordings. The album features previous singles “Sweet Dreams”, “Keep Your Head Up High”, and “The Sun and The Rain”, which saw support from the likes of Craig Charles (BBC 6Music), Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2), Huw Stephens (BBC 6Music), The Observer, Clash, NME and more. Kitty will be celebrating the release of her album at Rough Trade East, London with a full band performance on Wednesday 31st July.
Kitty Liv has fired up music lovers around the globe from a very early age, co-fronting family band Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, selling over a quarter of a million records and garnering famous fans including Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Coldplay. Her solo music marks a shift in career and sound for her as she finds strength in her sound, production, and song writing. With influences ranging from Erykah Badu and D’Angelo to Al Green and Howlin’ Wolf, she has worked to produce a body of personal songs that evoke the primal depths of classic soul, Gospel blues and old school rock and roll.
‘Easy Tiger’ consists of ten tracks, written, re-written and recorded over a five-year period. By no coincidence the album coincided with the beginning, middle and difficult end of the biggest long-term relationship of her adult-life; a personal journey which seeps into the storytelling of the tracks. Lyrically, ‘Easy Tiger’ is direct. A young woman purging her heartbreak whilst proudly pronouncing her deepest animalistic and sexual desires, using her artistry and skills to elevate herself as a beacon of hope for anybody riding the rollercoaster of life and love. Kitty Liv is a unique and powerful female songwriter who is continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary pop music with her outwardly blues. ‘Easy Tiger’ is a document of love, loss and a musical handbook on how to keep your head up high.
The album’s eclectic nature offers a vast spectrum of sound and songwriting, all while maintaining a cohesive warm energy that envelopes all those who listen. Co-produced with her brother and analogue guru Lewis Durham, ‘Easy Tiger’ was recorded live on sparkling analogue equipment at KDL’s analogue studio at Kentish Town, North London. On her debut LP, Kitty Liv seamlessly blends nostalgia of the past with a modern, fresh approach, acting as the perfect introduction to Kitty’s solo work and her new partnership with Sunday Best.
Born and bred in Camden Town, London, Kitty lives and breathes music, founding Durham Sound Studios alongside her brother Lewis and collaborating with other musicians and artists to capture magical moments on sparkling analogue recording gear. Currently on tour with His Lordship, Kitty Liv’s live solo performances see her fronting a band of handpicked musicians, playing a selection of soon-to-be-released original tracks, all with solid grooves and charming melodies. She has performed across London and at festivals including Glastonbury, Victorious and Camp Bestival. Kitty is also the host of the Bombay Nights radio show on Soho Radio, London.
With a clear talent for writing fierce and bold, yet heartfelt and charming lyrics, the single is a taster of what’s to come from this incredibly talented songwriter and exceptional performer.
