Hope Tala - Thank Goodness (Single)

Building on her reputation as one of the most exciting voices in the R&B/neo-soul space, West London’s own Hope Tala is back with a brand-new single ‘Thank Goodness’. Her latest release is a summer-soaked anthem about the relief of dodging a bullet. The track showcases Hope’s signature smooth and soulful sound and knack for poetic narration.

The release follows Hope’s feature in Barack Obama's 2024 Summer Playlist with her recent single ‘I Can’t Even Cry’. This marks the third year Hope has made an appearance on the playlist, following her previous inclusions in 2022 and 2020.

I experienced a pretty horrible breakup not too long before writing this song. As I explained everything that had been going on in my life at the time to Caroline Ailin and Stint, who I made it with, I used the phrase ‘thank goodness’. Once we finished chatting, Caroline said we should use the phrase as a title. I was a bit taken aback at first - I probably wouldn’t have considered using it if I had been writing on my own - but once the song was finished I remember thinking wow, this is exactly what I’ve been wanting to say. Then it really became my ‘better off’ anthem.

On this new single, Hope Tala’s honeyed vocals glide effortlessly over lush, soulful instrumentation that draws you in from the get-go. The song speaks to the relief and clarity that comes from realising that sometimes, what we think we want isn't what we need. It shares a message of trusting your intuition perfectly encapsulated in Hope’s emotive performance.

Hope Tala’s rise over the past few months has been nothing short of impressive. Building on the success of her recent releases, ‘Bad Love God’ and ‘I Can’t Even Cry’, Hope has been steadily laying the foundation for her upcoming project. With each new song, she continues to solidify her place in the music industry, drawing acclaim for her unique blend of R&B and neo-soul. Her distinctive voice and heartfelt lyrics have struck a chord with listeners, making her one of the most promising artists to watch in 2024.

Her recent performance supporting America R&B star SZA at BST Hyde Park last month, further showcased her blossoming presence in the industry and introduced her new material to a wide audience.

With this ‘Thank Goodness’, Hope continues to forge ahead, delivering a sound full of dimension and individuality.

Earlier this week Hope Tala announced that she’ll be embarking on a Mini Tour this October, featuring three exclusive performances in London, New York and Los Angeles. Tickets on sale here.
